The Segura basin (CHS) carried out the cleaning and upgrading of the promenade of the Canyons in Albudeite, a work that has already proven its usefulness in achieving channel heavy rains in late September to avoid the traditional overflows the area.
This project is part of the actions of CHS in the streams and rivers in the Basin to ensure their proper functioning during episodes of heavy rainfall.
Albudeite The draft is divided into two phases.
The first consisted of a performance on the vegetation of the river, cleaning rods over 1,300 meters from the coastline.
The second part of the project will involve the placement of a breakwater, passing through the village, to hinder plant growth and improve working conditions in future cleanups, mostly under the bridge that gives access to the town.
On the other hand, the basin organization technical problems have been detected in several wadis draining Basin because of bridges and steps to reduce the speed bump of the channel capacity, blocking the passage of water and increasing the potential for flooding.
This problem occurred on the promenade of the Canyons in Albudeite, but also occurred in the Rambla de Canteras (step speed bump in the road in Cartagena-Canteras-Mazarrón) or on the boardwalk in Mills Marfagones Benipila.
The WSC recommended that the competent authorities to extend or raise these steps do not limit the hydraulic capacity of the channels.
